Introduction
Comprehensive Healthcare is proud to support the next generation of behavioral health professionals by offering internships and practicum placements for students in social work, counseling, occupational therapy, nursing, and substance use disorder undergraduate and graduate programs. In addition to meeting education requirements, internships are a great way for students to gain professional experience and network within their field.
Interning with Comprehensive Healthcare
Our interns are matched with a qualified field supervisor who provides regular guidance based on their program’s requirements. In addition to a field advisor, many of our interns are also matched with a day-to-day supervisor to provide additional support and mentorship.
Depending on your area of study, internship opportunities may include:
- Co-facilitating groups
- Developing client engagement and therapy skills
- Supporting crisis evaluations and safety planning
- Gaining experience in inpatient, residential, and outreach settings
- Building care coordination and assessment skills
- Attending trainings and team meetings
Our goal is to help you grow your skills and confidence as you prepare for a career in behavioral health.

Pathways: Adult Residential Treatment Facility
This adult residential treatment facility provides residential, individualized, and integrated treatment to individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. The program provides intensive treatment to individuals who need a higher level of care than can be provided in an outpatient setting. Treatment in this 16-bed facility is provided by an interdisciplinary team of mental health and substance use disorder professionals. The initial phase of treatment focuses on psychiatric stabilization, then later, we emphasize active treatment and community transition planning.

New Journeys
The New Journeys team is a youth-focused program whose goal is to minimize the trauma, disruption, and potential disability that can result from psychosis and schizophrenia-related symptoms. The New Journeys program works to identify, as early as possible, individuals who are experiencing psychosis, stabilize their symptoms, strengthen their family & social supports, and help develop the skills and knowledge to manage their condition for the long term. This program serves young people aged 15-25 who have experienced their first episode of psychosis within the previous year.
