Honoring Greg Aubol
A Legacy of Leadership, Service, and Heart
After decades of dedicated service, Greg Aubol, MS, LMHC, Director of Kittitas Services, is retiring from Comprehensive Healthcare. His journey began at age 24, newly married and working at Fairfax Hospital in Seattle. Encouraged by a friend in Ellensburg, Greg applied for a position at what was then Central Washington Comprehensive Mental Health. That decision would shape a career marked by compassion, innovation, and community impact.
A Career Built on Vision and Collaboration
Greg’s tenure at Comprehensive Healthcare is filled with milestones that reflect his commitment to improving lives. As Director, he helped build a strong leadership team across the ASK division (Aspen, Sunnyside, Kittitas), and led initiatives that transformed local mental health services. His work with the Kittitas County Correction Center established a dedicated corrections team, and his advocacy contributed to the passage of the 1/10th of 1% sales and use tax—funding crisis case managers and school-based therapists through 2027.
Under Greg’s leadership, a new acute care team was launched in Ellensburg to meet rising needs, and partnerships with the Sunnyside Community led to the opening of Vista Del Sol Two, now nearly full with a waiting list. These achievements are just a glimpse into a career Greg describes as “full of wonderful experiences.”
Wisdom and Resilience
Greg’s advice to those starting their careers is rooted in optimism and perseverance: “If you can dream it, you can do it.” He credits his resilience to focusing on successes over challenges and nurturing a fulfilling life outside of work. With his wife Vicky, their children, and grandchildren, Greg found joy in family, running marathons, and volunteering with organizations like the National Red Cross and UNHCR.
Looking Ahead: A New Chapter Begins
Retirement for Greg means no more middle-of-the-night work calls, but plenty of time for family, travel, gardening, and running. He’ll continue managing the family’s Packwood flea market business and rental properties, and remain active on community boards—including completing his term as board chair of the Kittitas County Health Network.
In his own words, Greg looks forward to embracing his role as “chief of grandfathering” and humorously plans to “stalk Jodi Daly with pictures of me having fun during retirement.”
A Lasting Legacy
Greg’s legacy is one of service, empathy, and leadership. He reminds us that “even during our most difficult or challenging times we are doing our best at that moment,” and that a caring presence can make all the difference.
Thank you, Greg, for your years of dedication and the profound impact you’ve made. You will be deeply missed—and warmly celebrated.
