Gleed Orchard Manor recently achieved a remarkable milestone in its operational excellence. Following a rigorous examination by the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), the facility emerged without a single citation in its complete survey. This accomplishment speaks volumes about the dedication, preparedness, and commitment of the entire team at Gleed Orchard Manor.
The DSHS survey is comprehensive in every sense, leaving no stone unturned in its evaluation. From meticulously examining labels in the kitchen to assessing the intricacies of programming for clients, every aspect of the facility’s operations is scrutinized with meticulous detail. This thorough approach ensures that regulatory standards are met and that residents receive the highest quality of care and services. The DSHS survey serves as a rigorous benchmark for excellence, reflecting a commitment to upholding the well-being and safety of residents in assisted living settings.
Jodi Daly, Ph.D., CEO, expressed her delight and extended hearty congratulations to the team, saying, “I am incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication exhibited by every team member at Gleed Orchard Manor. Achieving a citation-free status in the DSHS full survey is a huge accomplishment and a testament to the good work being done in the facility.”
The story of Gleed Orchard Manor’s success speaks volumes about their attention to detail and their commitment to continuous improvement. Program Manager Jesus (JD) Diaz and Director of Residential Services Sue Van Tuinen share insights into the strategies and efforts that led to this remarkable achievement.
“One of the really important parts for me as a director is to make sure that we’re not just getting ready for survey, but that we are survey ready every day,” shares Sue. She highlighted the team’s proactive approach to conducting internal audits to address potential areas of concern and to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
JD echoed Sue’s sentiments, attributing the success to the collaborative efforts of the entire team. “I feel like the team did a really good job preparing themselves, being state-ready, having all the documentation, and having everything organized,” JD remarked. From maintaining the building to ensuring the delivery of quality care and services, every aspect was scrutinized to meet the stringent standards set by regulatory bodies.
Reflecting on the experience, JD shared, “It was nerve-racking at first, but being composed and collected and making sure everyone was doing everything necessary to get everything done was crucial.” Despite being relatively new in the position, JD highlighted the invaluable support received from mentors like Sue, whose guidance proved instrumental in navigating the complexities of the audit process.
The dedication exhibited by the team at Gleed Orchard Manor extends beyond regulatory compliance. Sue emphasized the importance of providing a nurturing environment where residents feel safe and supported. This holistic approach encompasses everything from medication management to personalized care plans tailored to meet individual needs.
Looking ahead, JD and Sue reiterated their commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care. “We’re going to be state-ready every day. That’s our goal. That’s our mantra,” Sue affirmed. With plans to implement monthly checks to ensure ongoing compliance, the team remains dedicated to continuous learning and improvement.
