Introduction

Comprehensive Healthcare is proud to support the next generation of behavioral health professionals by offering internships and practicum placements for students in social work, counseling, occupational therapy, nursing, and substance use disorder undergraduate and graduate programs. In addition to meeting education requirements, internships are a great way for students to gain professional experience and network within their field.

Interning with Comprehensive Healthcare

Our interns are matched with a qualified field supervisor who provides regular guidance based on their program’s requirements. In addition to a field advisor, many of our interns are also matched with a day-to-day supervisor to provide additional support and mentorship.

Depending on your area of study, internship opportunities may include:

  • Co-facilitating groups
  • Developing client engagement and therapy skills
  • Supporting crisis evaluations and safety planning
  • Gaining experience in inpatient, residential, and outreach settings
  • Building care coordination and assessment skills
  • Attending trainings and team meetings

Internship Application
& Placement Process

  • Online
    Application

    Complete the online application and upload all required and relevant documents.

  • Application
    Review

    A member of the HR team will review your application for details like geographic location, supervision requirements, and timeframe. If we believe we may be able to provide suitable experience to meet your requirements, your application will be forwarded to relevant supervisors.

  • Interview
    Stages

    Interviews with potential supervisors.

  • Selection
    Process

    If selected for an internship, a member of HR will facilitate the process of completing all required paperwork & agreements to confirm the internship placement.

  • Background
    Checks

    HR will also conduct a criminal background check.

  • Scheduled
    Onboarding

    Once everything is confirmed, you'll be scheduled to complete a day of onboarding before you start your internship. Generally, this takes place on a Monday at our main facility in Yakima, but there is some flexibility for students unable to travel.
