Aspen Programs in Yakima and Kittitas Receive Near-Perfect Audit Scores!
Our Aspen Programs in Kittitas and Yakima have completed their rigorous accreditation audits and both earned an impressive score of 98% (51 out of 52 points). This audit, conducted every four years through the Office of Crime Victims Advocacy (OCVA), is the equivalent of a Joint Commission audit for behavioral health programs and is a significant marker of quality, compliance, and excellence in victim advocacy services.
In addition to the stress any audit can bring to a program, this year’s process came with unique challenges. Due to a scheduling delay, the Kittitas and Yakima audits were conducted during the same week. The extended leave of Dawn Brumfield, Program Manager for Kittitas Aspen, made this already demanding situation more complex. Rising to the occasion, Debbie Brockman went above and beyond, leading the preparation efforts for both programs with exceptional dedication. Despite the added pressure, our Aspen teams tackled the process with resilience and an unwavering commitment to ensuring survivors receive the highest quality of care.
“Debbie has spent her weekends and evenings preparing both programs for this audit while also writing grant renewals,” said Greg Aubol, Director of Kittitas and Sunnyside services. “Debbie, Dawn, and their staff have been battling a tornado in the middle of a hurricane these past several weeks and deserve the highest thanks and praise for their efforts in maintaining an A+ level of excellence!”
“Dawn is a very organized person and has always done an amazing job with her program,” Debbie shared. “I never felt like I was in it alone. Numerous other people within the agency also assisted in making sure the accreditation process went smoothly, and the result is that both programs are fully accredited for the next 4 years.”
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Debbie Brockman, Dawn Brumfield, and the entire Aspen staff in both Yakima and Kittitas. Your hard work, compassion, and perseverance do not go unnoticed.
Here’s to celebrating an incredible achievement, and to the people who made it possible!
